In class I wanted to make a series of bumper commercials for a television network. I decided on HGTV's BATHtastic!. I needed to follow the network branding, while still having an original approach to showcasing the upcoming show.

So far, I've been working on a short animation in response to Moholy-Nagy's Mechanized Eccentric essay. That should be completed by March 4th and up ready to view. I uploaded tonight a kinetic type study featuring the Moody Blues. Feel free to check that out and feedback is always welcome.

Attended my first Rush concert on Saturday and it was stunning!
As an animator, there was a lot more to be impressed with other than their musical awesomeness! For every song, they had an intro (in HD) animation on the backdrop behind them to introduce the song. You knew which song there were going to play by the story/scene at the beginning. The style of the whole concert was in a circus from the early 1900's and the animation style was a magical mixture between paper cutouts and a 3d modeling like Animusic.

I'm working on an animation for my studio class Video Production 2. It's about a caterpillar's day avoiding death. I want it to be in a flowing ink style, but am having some trouble getting the masks to work completely so i'm working on getting the movement right in just a 2d line style before I complicate it more. Here is what the caterpillar looks like:
- Jun 29, 10Right now, i'm trying to thumbnail out a painting that I want to do, that plays with the concept of your real face behind the mask.
It's going to be be sweet.
I'm going to do the initial painting on a big board and do the initial face, with the true inner emotion and then with layers of plexiglass and silk screening have the "real face/mask" on top but still transparent. - Jun 28, 10I went to an Iron Maiden concert this last Tueday, and it was...well...nothing short of Amazing.
The set design, the back drops, and the lighting effects... BEAUTIFUL!
The beginning of the show:
After the opening band (Dream Theater) left the stage there was a brief intermission while the stage hands tore the stage apart. There was a big black sheet hiding most things going on. The band opened with a newer song then left the stage. Once they pulled down the sheet it revealed the stage set up like a mars moon lander (similar to the powerslave set up). The stage of course, was on the ground, but the lighting changes made it appear like it was landing.
For every song they had a different back drop (most featuring Eddie in some fashion). The backdrops were beautifully designed to change the mood easily with just the lighting changing on them. They also appeared to be on a fabric that was somewhat transparent so when the light was shinning on it, it reflected back out and through it again in a weird sort of way. They also had lights behind them too to mimic lightning and other effects.
The whole experience was definitely inspiring!
